2007 Projects
The GLSPS dive boat, the Preservation, will be available for use with many of these projects. Members, this is your opportunity to get involved and participate. Projects are open to GLSPS Members. Divers must have Advanced Open Water Diver certification or comparable experience and be trained to work with tools and techniques underwater. The GLSPS will offer training for the latter. If you are interested, please contact the trip leader and sign up early.

Boat Work Weekends - All weekends in April, May and June will be work weekends on the GLSPS boat Preservation. The boat is located in West Duluth at the Spirit Lake Marina. We will be car pooling to go up Friday night or Saturday morning -- stay on the boat at night and return Sunday. Each person is responsible for his own meals. For details call Ken Knutson 612-861-8851.
GLSPS America Preservation Project - (September 8-10) - This is the Great Lakes Shipwreck Preservation Society periodic project to preserve the shipwreck America at Isle Royale. Participation is limited to members of GLSPS. The date set is tentative and will depend on whether there is sufficient damage this year to warrant a project.
Moonlight National Register Documentation Project - (3 or 4 days over September 15-16 Weekend) - Dates will be arranged to fit schedules of participants. This will be a 240' deep documentation project of the site of the Moonlight to supply information necessary for writing the National Register nomination. Work will involve video, exploration, sketching, artifact inventory, and some measurements of the site. Participants will be requested to keep location confidential until submission of the nomination.
Robert Wallace National Register Documentation Project - Two Weekends in October - This will be the start of a two season 240' deep documentation project of the Robert Wallace for the National Register Nomination scheduled to be written in 2008. Work will involve videoing, photographing, exploring, sketching, artifact inventory, and some measurements of the site. Participants will be requested to keep location confidential until submission of the nomination.
