CANCELED!

Once again this project is canceled because of the lack of interest

The Great Lakes Shipwreck Preservation Society has been doing more underwater archeological site survey and mapping for placing shipwrecks on the National Register of Historic Sites and for historic area mappings. To help attain trained divers to participate on these projects, the GLSPS is presenting this class on underwater archaeology and shipwreck documentation.
This is your chance to learn new diving related skills and get involved with exciting GLSPS projects.

The Course will allow you to learn the skills and practice the Documentation of an underwater shipwreck by drawing to scale underwater using tri-lateration methods, base lines and cross lines, using basic measuring tools, then transferring the information to a site plan

We will be offering classroom training at the Silver Bay Marina and underwater documenting practice on sections of the Hesper shipwreck just outside Silver Bay. Students must attend both days.

An official certification is offered if all NAUI requirements are meet during this training, NAUI Specialty Course, Introduction to Underwater Archaeology, Certification is available for additional cost of $90. and is highly recommended.

Your open water SCUBA Dive certification, and a minimum of 30 dives logged are required. You must supply your own diving equipment and a dry suit is preferred, the water will still be very cold. Air refills are available on the Preservation as needed.
Please contact Bob Nelson at 612-916-8183612-916-8183 for questions, more details or to signup.
You will need to register for the training so that I know you are participating.  Please remember, you will need to login on the GLSPS.org site as a member to register for the event. Please feel free to call me for help registering.

Please note:  All project participants are required to print, read and sign the GLSPS "Liability and Waiver Forms".  Here is the link to the forms.  Master Liability - Waiver and Medical Forms  Please don't forget to bring the forms with you to the project.  Please remember, if you answer "NO" to all the Medical form questions, you do not have to fill out the second page of the Medical Form.  If you answer "Yes" to any of them,  you will need to have a Physician OK you to dive with the GLSPS.

Thank you and hope to see you on the training project.
