This is a very worthy cause and if we don't attempt to preserve this one-of-a-kind Whale-back ship, it could be lost forever!
Please come join us in preserving one of the only "Whale-back Ships" remaining in the world!
We are looking for a few good men and women to help preserve the S.S. Meteor.

The last six years we put this Project together, we had a great turn out. We had 52 plus people helping out on this event! The folks from the Superior's Public Museum's Board of Directors were very appreciative with the efforts of all the organizations that helped on this event to complete another successful Project. Let’s try doing the same or better this year!
Here are some of the tasks we need to perform:
1. Housekeeping / Cleaning.
2. Cleaning, scraping and painting engine Room??
3. Finish painting steam pipes.
- Polish Brass in pilot house and engine room; spray with clear lacquer.
- Repair inside window frames in pilot house.
- Remove rust from engine/valving and linkage with steel wool, then apply mineral oil - (engine room)
- Washing Flags in exhibit area.
- Need more discussion on what to do with gear that drives the engine. (Only certain people on that sub project).
- Weld more rust holes, on starboard Turret.
- Replace rusted bracket and plate on exterior stair/walkway.
- Install sealer on top of Pilot House to seal from water getting into Pilot house / Map Room.
- Clean exhibit case glass, inside and out.
- Clean crews’ quarters, make beds, etc.
- Repaint frames around portholes.
- Replace valve spring on Ship Whistle – Bob has valve spring.
